Demographics

Sherman County is named for William Tecumseh Sherman (1820-1891). He was a Union general during the Civil War who lead the famous march across Georgia and is credited with the saying "War is Hell".

Goodland received its name in a conversation between one of the town's founders and his wife after a secret meeting.
