Sherman County Convention and Visitors Bureau awarded its first Tourism Scholarship to 2016 Goodland Junior-Senior High graduate Dani Mangus of Kanorado. Mangus intends to major in agribusiness at Kansas State University. Several quality students applied and the bureau’s Scholarship Committee chose Mangus. Mangus follows all her brothers to K-State. The bureau established the scholarship to encourage the next generation of students to enter fields that could support a travel industry career.
“We are very pleased to designate our first scholarship to an agribusiness major,” bureau Executive Director Donna Price said. “Agribusiness fits very well. Travelers are increasingly interested in the authentic experience agritourism provides. Goodland is the gateway to Land and Sky Scenic Byway, the nation’s first agriculture-themed byway. We congratulate Dani and wish her all success.”
