SHPTV films a Goodland episode of “Traveling Kansas”
Goodland and Sherman County will be featured in Smoky Hills Public Television’s (SHPTV) “Traveling Kansas” series. Flatlander Festival will be featured in a program segment Sept. 25, 6:30 p.m. MDT. An updated program will run 10 more times in 2016. The program is in its second year and Goodland will be its 10th episode.
“We’re going to do an overview of the things to see and do” in Goodland and Sherman County, Wayne Roberts said. He is SHPTV’s Corporate Support Representative. “We’ll feature events like Flatlander and attractions like High Plains Museum.”
The informative program’s purpose is to help viewers “better understand communities.” The program features “things that people would not know about each community,” he said.

Roberts and Les Kinderknecht have been filming in Goodland. Kinderknecht is SHPTV’s Senior Producer/Director. They will continue over the next few weeks. They have filmed segments with Lincoln Wilson of Flatlander, sunflower fields, Giant van Gogh Painting, Art in the Parks, Sherman Theatre, murals, Ennis-Handy House and more.
Sherman County Convention and Visitors Bureau (ShCVB) is the lead funder of the Goodland “Traveling Kansas” episode. Roberts first approached ShCVB about filming a Goodland episode in early June. “We are excited to have this opportunity to promote our community in this way,” ShCVB Executive Director Donna Price said. “We are looking forward to working with SHPTV as they move forward with this program.”
