The Ultimate Guide to Northwest Kansas is Sherman County Convention & Visitors Bureau’s fourth 2018 publication
Members of Northwest Kansas Travel Council, Inc., picked up The Ultimate Guide to Northwest Kansas Sept. 25 at a meeting in Crazy R’s Bar and Grill, Goodland. The Ultimate Guide is the fourth publication for the bureau’s staff this year.
The first publication in 2018 is Sherman County: Gateway to Land and Sky Scenic Byway.
The second is Seventy on Kansas I-70: Kansas Travel Guide. Each of the 16 Kansas I-70 Association communities chose its top five attractions for the Seventy on Kansas I-70 campaign. (When the campaign started, the association had 14 members. When membership increased, the members decided to keep the campaign title the same).
The third is the rack card for Big Kansas Road Trip 2019.
Committees from each organization chose the contents for each publication.
All four publications are housed at the bureau’s Goodland office. They are stored there until needed for distribution by the visitors bureau and the organizations to which it belongs.
Marketing is the essence of success for any organization. Sherman County Convention and Visitors Bureau is a major marketing arm for Sherman County and its lodging, eateries and attractions. Joining tourism coalitions and cooperating with other communities enables the visitors bureau to reach far more people than it ever could alone.
Find the publications in brochure racks and at trade shows
The Sherman County and Kansas I-70 Association publications are available in Certified Folder racks at sites from Limon, Colo., to Kansas City. Pick up copies locally at locations including hotels, restaurants and convenience stores.
All the publications are featured at trade shows. The visitors bureau manages the three trade shows – Denver, Omaha and Wichita — at which the travel council exhibits. The visitors bureau also manages Kansas I-70 Association’s trade shows. The association will be exhibiting at a different Denver trade show and possibly others. Visitors bureau staff take the publications to events targeted to travel journalists and tour operators as well as the trade shows. The visitors bureau also ships numerous publications to those who request them.
The visitors bureau’s mission
Sherman County Convention and Visitors Bureau’s mission is to promote Sherman County through as many marketing channels as its budget allows. The bureau is funded through transient guest tax receipts, a sales tax on hotel guests. Sherman County residents do not pay transient guest taxes in Sherman County. Visitors pay guest taxes.
