Cyclists to begin 2019 ride across Kansas in Sherman County
What has two wheels and two legs and rides across Kansas every summer? One clue: Around 900 of these beings exist and they are coming to Sherman County in June.
Did you guess that Biking Across Kansas (BAK) will kick off its 2019 ride in Sherman County? If so, you are right. The two-legged, two-wheeled beings will be very visible while they are in the county.
“We were happy to learn that the cyclists will be visiting us again for their 2019 ride. They are a fun group of people to host and we know they will enjoy our community,” Donna Price, Sherman County Convention & Visitors Bureau Executive Director, said. “Our office will be working with the BAK office. We’ll let them know about the great time they can have here in our county.”
The bureau will be working with the City of Goodland and USD 352-Goodland to ensure that the cyclists’ visit to Sherman County will go smoothly. “We are looking forward to greasing the wheels for the cyclists,” Price said, “and making their stay here a memorable one for all the right reasons.”
Ride will start at the state line
Approximately 900 cyclists and volunteers will start the 2019 ride at the Kansas-Colorado line June 7 or 8 and stay in Goodland the night of June 7. Please watch out for the numerous two-wheeled, two-legged beings that will be riding Sherman County roads. Please give them plenty of room on the roads and a friendly hello when you meet them.
Some will be staying in paid lodging and some will camp out at Goodland Junior-Senior High.
